Since 1968, Bucksport Water System, Inc. has proudly served the Bucksport community and surrounding areas as a member-owned, not-for-profit utility. Our goal is simple — to provide safe, dependable, and affordable drinking water while supporting the growth and quality of life in our service area.
Our team operates six well sites — Bucksport, Evergreen, Juniper Bay, Pauley Swamp, Pee Dee, and Jordanville — with a combined storage capacity of 1.8 million gallons. We draw our water from the McQueen and Charleston Aquifers (formerly the Black Creek Aquifer), with wells reaching depths of 600–850 feet. With more than 400 miles of pipeline, we deliver water to about 8,000 active taps and over 20,000 customers every day.
Led by a dedicated manager and a ten-member Board of Directors, we’re continually investing in new water sources, infrastructure upgrades, and system expansion to meet the needs of our growing community. Our commitment to quality and service ensures that every drop meets the highest standards.
Bucksport Water System, Inc. is a 501(c)(12) non-taxable organization under Chapter 36 of the South Carolina Code of Laws. We hold the power of eminent domain and are eligible to participate in state and federal programs, including federal loan opportunities.
